Stainless Steel 440B is high-carbon martensitic stainless steel alloy with about 16–18% chromium, 0.75–1.0% carbon, and minor amounts of manganese, silicon, and molybdenum. Its composition provides 440B bolts higher hardness (up to 58 HRC), tensile strength, and mid-range corrosion resistance in dry and mildly corrosive conditions. The alloy has good wear resistance and resistance to oxidation at higher temperatures.
