The stainless steel ball valves are normally made of 304 or 316 stainless steel. Both 304 has ~18% chromium with 8% nickel, whereas 316 has 2–3% molybdenum added for enhanced corrosion protection. These materials provide tensile strengths of up to 580 MPa, yield strength of approximately 240 MPa, and superb resistance to crevice and pitting corrosion. Valves are pressure-rated (usually up to 1000 PSI) and function well at temperatures ranging from –20°C to well above 200°C. Valve body, ball, stem, and seals are designed for withstanding long-term performance under pressure and thermal stress.
