17-4 PH stainless steel contains around 15–17.5% chromium, 3–5% nickel, 3–5% copper, and trace amounts of niobium. Following solution treatment and aging, coils exhibit tensile strength of 1000–1200 MPa, yield strength of approximately 1100 MPa, and HRC 40–45 hardness. Good ductility (8–10% elongation) is maintained, along with superior fatigue strength and moderate corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties are a function of temper (e.g., H900, H1150), which provides flexibility in use. The alloy can be welded and formed in the annealed state prior to aging to final strength.
