Stainless Steel 201 is a chromium-nickel-manganese alloy consisting of approximately 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, and 5.5–7.5% manganese. These stud bolts have tensile strength of 515–790 MPa and yield strength of at least 275 MPa. Hardness is normally about 200 HB. Although they provide lower corrosion resistance than that of 304, they are most suitable for conditions with minimal chemical exposure. The alloy exhibits good toughness, high cold work hardening capacity, and moderate magnetic properties following cold working. These mechanical characteristics render it appropriate for fastening in general applications in which aggressive corrosion is not an issue.
