Stainless Steel 446 Stud Bolts are made from a ferritic alloy with approximately 23% to 27% chromium, 0.5% to 1.5% molybdenum, and very low carbon content. The high chromium level gives excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to 1100°C. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 485 MPa and a yield strength of around 275 MPa. This material provides good creep strength and moderate toughness. While it is less ductile than austenitic stainless steels, SS 446 maintains its structural integrity in high-heat and corrosive environments, making it suitable for bolting in thermal and oxidizing systems.
