Andre Stainless offers AWS Class ER308 and ER308H filler wire and rod for MIG and TIG welding of 18‑8 stainless steels. The ER308 variant is for general-purpose welding, while ER308H has higher carbon for better creep resistance. Both ER308 and ER308H contain about 18‑20% chromium and 9‑11% nickel. ER308H has carbon at 0.04% or greater for better creep strength, while ER308 remains low-carbon. The tensile strength exceeds around 560 MPa with elongation near 30%. The silicon in the wire improves fluidity and arc stability. These fillers create clean welds with good fusion and minimal porosity in MIG/TIG tasks. ER308H offers higher strength in elevated temperatures, while ER308 focuses on corrosion resistance in standard applications.
