Andre Stainless provides AWS Class ER308LSi filler wire and TIG rod for TIG and MIG welding of Type 308L stainless steel buildings. Silicon-enhanced, this filler provides superior weld pool appearance and control. Supplied from Pulau Ujong, Singapore, Andre Stainless facilitates fabrication and maintenance for industries requiring aesthetic as well as structural quality. ER308LSi provides smooth flowing, low porosity, and high mechanical strength. Coupled with Andre‘s on-site technical assistance and presence, this filler ideal for welding exposed stainless assemblies that have stringent quality requirements in architectural, food, and chemical processes.
ER308LSi wire/rod has 18–20% chromium, 9–11% nickel, and ~0.5–1.0% silicon. Carbon is restricted to ≤0.04% in order to avoid sensitization. Weld metal tensile strength is generally above 560 MPa with elongation of ~30%. Silicon enhances the arc fluidity and bead shape, lessening spatter and oxide inclusions. Clean and uniform MIG and TIG welds have good slag-free surfaces. Mechanical toughness and corrosion resistance ensure long-term durability even in cyclic exposure or mildly aggressive exposures.
