ER310 filler wire has about 25–26.5% Chromium and 20–22.5% Nickel with low Carbon levels to limit carbide precipitation. The composition provides excellent oxidation resistance up to 1150°C. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 620 MPa and yield strength of 420 MPa. Weld metal is austenitic even after cooling, which provides good strength and toughness. ER310 is appropriate for TIG and MIG processes with stable arcs and little spatter. It conforms to AWS A5.9 requirements for ER310 and is best suited for use in applications demanding resistance to thermal fatigue and high-temperature strength.
