Stainless Steel 347H Bars are stabilized austenitic stainless steel bars for elevated temperatures used for high creep strength and thermal endurance. Provided by Andre Stainless in Pulau Ujong, Singapore, 347H contains higher carbon content than SS 347, with better performance under continuous high temperature use. Columbium (niobium) additions in 347H resist intergranular corrosion following welding or heat treatment. These bars find extensive application in petrochemical, power generation, and heat treatment processes. Andre Stainless supplies these bars to ASTM A276 and A479 specifications, ensuring high-quality surface finishes, consistent mechanical properties, and traceable documentation for pressure-containing and thermally cycled equipment.
SS 347H contains ~17–20% chromium, 9–13% nickel, ~0.04–0.10% carbon, and columbium (at least 10x carbon content). This elevated carbon enhances high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and stability under thermal stress. It provides tensile strength of ~550 MPa, yield strength ~240 MPa, elongation ~35%, and hardness of ~150 HB. The alloy is non-magnetic when in the annealed state and resists oxidation to 870°C. It possesses weldability and mechanical properties after being subjected to high heat, making it suited for cyclic heating conditions. 347H has superior toughness and dimensional stability when forming and machining.
