440 Stainless Steel Bars come in grades 440A, 440B, and 440C, varying according to their carbon composition, varying between 0.60% and 1.20%. All have around 16–18% chromium, which increases hardness and resistance to corrosion. Following heat treatment, these bars have hardness values of up to 60 HRC. They have tensile strength ranging from 700–750 MPa based on the grade and treatment. The martensitic structure of the alloy gives excellent wear resistance, edge retention, and mechanical toughness, making them suitable for precision machining, abrasive, and high-stress operations in many industrial applications.
