SS 15-5 PH Sheet and Plates are high-grade precipitation-hardened stainless steels produced for structural integrity, corrosion, and weldability. SS 15-5 PH contains 14–15.5% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, 2.5–4.5% copper, and up to 0.07% carbon. It has small concentrations of niobium for grain refinement. Under the H900 condition, it has a tensile strength of about 1,310 MPa, yield strength of 1,170 MPa, elongation of 10%, and hardness of about 40 HRC. The alloy is extremely tough at room and sub-zero temperatures. Its microstructure offers low heat distortion following heat treatment and outstanding transverse toughness. SS 15-5 PH is martensitic in nature and is easily hardened using mechanical and thermal hardening operations.
