SS 446 Sheets and Plates are made of high-chromium ferritic stainless steel containing 23% to 27% chromium, trace molybdenum, and very low carbon. This mixture improves resistance to scaling and oxidation at temperatures over 1000°C. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa and a yield strength around 275 MPa, with limited ductility. While these plates cannot be heat-treated for hardness, they offer excellent thermal fatigue and creep resistance. Their stable structure at high temperatures ensures reliable performance in tough industrial settings, especially where other grades may fail due to scaling and heat stress.
