Stainless Steel 201 is an austenitic alloy with about 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, and up to 7.5% manganese. It offers good resistance to corrosion and high tensile strength (about 515–750 MPa), with a yield strength of 275 MPa. While it is not as corrosion-resistant as 304, it provides better toughness and work-hardening properties. The material is non-magnetic in its annealed state and shows excellent formability. SS 201 sheets and plates work well for applications needing moderate corrosion resistance, high strength, and cost-effective performance, especially where exposure to harsh chemicals is limited.
