Stainless Steel 17-7 PH is a precipitation-hardened stainless steel containing about 17% chromium, 7% nickel, and minor amounts of aluminum for improved hardening response. Upon cold working and aging, the alloy develops a tensile strength of 1200 MPa, yield strength of approximately 1100 MPa, and HRC 44–48 hardness. It still possesses good ductility (7–9% elongation) and very good fatigue properties. It exhibits fair corrosion resistance in mild environments but its main benefit is through the strength-to-weight ratio and consistent mechanical performance after forming and aging.
